Air Greenland Reviews
Air Greenland was founded on the 7th of November 1960 as Grønlandsfly A/S by Scandinavian Airlines and a Danish mining company based in Greenland, Kryolitselskabet Øresund. The first flights were using helicopters, but after an accident in 1961, they resorted to just water planes and DHC-6 Twin Otters. Unfortunately, the plan wasn’t successful as in 1962 a water plane crashed too. That made them decide to start operating Douglas-DC4s in 1965. The rebranding happened in the late 2000s from Grønlandsfly to Air Greenland, adopting a new logo as well.
The national airline of Greenland’s main base is at Kangerlussuaq Airport with 8 aircraft (excluding subsidiaries) serving 32 destinations internationally with SAS Group as their parent company. Air Greenland’s current CEO, Michael Højgaard – who was the former CEO of Lindpro Inc., a Danish electrical contractor business – had been Vice President Sales & Marketing of Air Greenland since 2005.
Economy Class passengers are served with complimentary snacks and drinks. Inflight meals are also available depending on the customer’s route. Weekly, the inflight magazine, “Suluk,” is published for customers to grasp the latest news and trending.
Business Class passengers are on transatlantic flights to Norsaq in Airbus A330-200. This cabin class offers inflight meals and keeps customers entertained with their personal video screen or a seatback audio video system. Amenity kits, blankets, and newspapers are also offered to passengers in this class.
Settlement Flights are flights operated by helicopters to most settlements in Greenland. This kind of air service is not shown on the timetable but can be pre-booked.
PC and Mobile Services
I personally love the layout of their page for the flashing images as background match the overall view of the site. The maroon and white vibrant colors are not harmful to the eyes due to their readable font size. The features of the website allow customers to search and book flights and manage booked flights. An option to check-in online is promptly shown at the top center of the page right below the access to their social media accounts.
The mobile site is pretty much similar to the PC version wherein travelers can check-in, check flight status, cargo information, and have the option to contact their customer service or send email.
Air Greenland Reviews of Passengers
Judging from the Air Greenland reviews I read, the airline is one of the air services that gives you a touch of their national culture. Reviewers are pleased with the crew’s hospitality and alertness. The food wasn’t as good as other airlines’ as one reviewer said, but he did enjoy his meal on board.
Another reviewer flew with Air Greenland with his wife from Copenhagen to Kangerlussuaq and noted that the food was sumptuous, and seats were fine but can’t be lowered down. He was surprised that Air Greenland has no AVOD system but was pleased with the pre-selected movies available. Through that, he gave the airline a 9 out of 10 according to AirlineRatings.com

The ups and downs they’ve been through didn’t make them cease operating or stop thinking of innovative ideas to proceed in air service. This attitude of Air Greenland is one of the main reasons why their loyal customers recommend them.
